Art critic Mark Jensen in the Washington Post: Manal Deeb “superimposes photographs\, calligraphy and fabric patterns on her face\, constructing a visual metaphor for how women’s identities are overlaid with societal expectations and political circumstances\,” blending realism and abstraction. This will be her debut in the Pacific Northwest.  \nWHAT ELSE: We’ll also show work from Legendary Painter Alfredo Arreguin (who has work in The Smithsonian)\, Professor Emeritus Ruben Trejo (who also has work in the Smithsonian)\, art professors Gordon Wilson\, Rob Fifield\, and Rob McKirdie\, Michael Dinning\, Karen Mobley\, Jim Dhillon\, Oregon artist Shelli Walters\, local legend Ric Gendron\, and beloved local artist Melissa Cole. \nWHEN:First Friday\, December 6th\, 5-8pm. \nWHERE: First Friday in Kendall Yards happens throughout the Kendall Yards Business District\, but has always been centered at Marmot Art Space (1202 Summit Pkwy\, in Adams Alley\, right across the alley from Craftsman Cellars and 3Ninjas). \nWHY ATTEND:It’s another amazing art party in Kendall Yards! This is the best night of each month\, a great opportunity to get out of the house and visit with your neighbors in Spokane’s most exciting neighborhood. Come for the art\, stay for the food and drink! Or vice versa. You choose – either way you’ll have a great time!
