SUMMARY:Movie: Alam
DESCRIPTION:The film\, Alam\, playing at the Grand Illusion Cinema \n\nDespite being part of a young generation of Palestinian Arabs whose families chose to stay and challenge the Israeli state after Al-Nakba\, 17-year-old Tamer and his friends are just like any other group of teenage boys. They clumsily search for drugs\, flirt with girls\, play video games\, and slack off at school. However\, when a beautiful new student named Maysaa’ joins their class\, Tamer immediately falls for her and\, by association\, is drawn into her political activism. Together they join fellow classmate\, Safwat\, in an operation to covertly raise the Palestinian flag and peacefully disrupt the local celebrations planned for Israel’s Independence Day – otherwise known to Palestinians as a day of mourning and memorialization for their displacement 70 years prior. Unsure of his own political convictions\, Tamer must quickly determine what matters to him and what price he is willing to pay for freedom. \nIn Arabic and Hebrew with English subtitles. \n\n\n\nView Trailer\nBuy Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, Mar 15\, 2024\, 7:00pm\nSaturday\, Mar 16\, 2024\, 6:00pm\nSunday\, Mar 17\, 2024\, 3:30pm\nTuesday\, Mar 19\, 2024\, 7:15pm

SUMMARY:USCPR Action Phone Zap: DISRUPTING CAMPAIGN EVENTS
DESCRIPTION:Join USCPR Action on Wednesday\, March 20 to mobilize our masses calling Congress and to learn how to disrupt campaign events. On the Zoom call\, you’ll hear a case study on how to disrupt a politician’s event to force the demand to stop arming Israel onto their agenda. We’ll also be mobilizing to defend Rafah and to stop “THE DEADLY DEAL\,” a $95 bilion spending package that just passed the Senate and now heads to the House. The Deadly Deal includes $14 billion in weapons to Israel for arming genocide\, and the elimination of all humanitarian funding to the UNRWA aid agency for Palestinian refugees\, permanently. At 2 PM ET / 11 AM PT\, we’ll flood Congress’s phone lines together to let them know we’re watching as the U.S. government continues to back Israel’s horrific massacres and forced starvation of Palestinians in Gaza. Demand that your elected officials call for a PERMANENT CEASEFIRE NOW and stop arming Israel! Join us this Wednesday\, March 20 at 2 PM ET.

SUMMARY:Cooking Class: JERUSALEM STREET FOOD
DESCRIPTION:Join Nadia Tommalieh on a culinary journey to the bustling markets of the ancient city of Jerusalem\, where she’ll show you how to make iconic street foods that have been savored for generations. You’ll learn the rich cultural history behind these beloved recipes as you make freshly baked ka’ak al Quds (Jerusalem Sesame Bread) and qudsiyeh (creamy hummus with fava beans in a zesty citrus sauce). You’ll discover a twist on traditional favorites with falafel mahshi (falafel stuffed with caramelized onions and sumac) paired with tarator sauce; fattet hummus (seasoned chickpea stew with toasted bread and crunchy fried nuts). No Jerusalem street food experience would be complete without a side of traditional salatah Qudsiyeh\, a salad of seasonal vegetables and herbs dressed in a jalapeno and tahini dressing.

SUMMARY:Eyewitness Palestine: Live from Lyd Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Join Eyewitness Palestine on Wednesday\, March 27th at 12PM ET for our Live from Lyd webinar\, featuring a special virtual delegation led by Tamer Nafar\, who will take us around Lyd on a custom tour of the city. Lyd\, like many Palestinian cities\, is an ancient city that’s been home to multiple civilizations over its 5\,000-year history. It was the site of one of the most grueling massacres of the Nakba and remains haunted by the injustices brought on to it. Today\, the community of Lyd–one of the few cities with an integrated Palestinian and Israeli Jewish population–is marred by addiction and gun violence. We’ll hear from Lyd residents about the resilience and struggles they face in the community.

SUMMARY:Land Day: PNW Regional March
DESCRIPTION:Each March 30th\, Palestinians mark Land Day\, recalling how in 1976 Israel announced plans to confiscate thousands of dunams of Palestinian land in al-jalīl (the Galilee). This led to protests across Palestine\, and on March 30\, 1976\, Israeli police killed six Palestinian citizens of Israel and injured and arrested many others. The occasion has come to exemplify the steadfastness of Palestinian resistance to colonization of their land. \nOn Saturday\, March 30\, at 2:00 p.m\, a coalition in Seattle invites us to gather at Lake Union Park for a march and rally. Organizers are calling on all people of conscience\, across Coast Salish lands\, across the Pacific Northwest\, and beyond\, to march in honor of those who fought and continue to struggle for a free Palestine.
