In collaboration with Green Seattle Partnership 💚🌲\n \nTrillium offers this justice-oriented container as an opportunity to build connections\, learn\, practice\, heal\, create\, and weave resilient communities anchored in land and water. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis time we’re going on a walk! \nA naturalist-led wander through the Mapes Creek Watershed. An activity that supports feeling a sense of place and connection with our forests and waterways. \nTo better understand how this precious gem fits in the city’s landscape. \nTo learn about the history and challenges. \nTo understand our relationship and responsibility. \nTo imagine a future of resilience and mutual thriving. \nWe will start near the Mapes Creek headwaters (South Creston Street SCL substation) and meander through the Kubota Natural area (including the garden)\, by Sturdivant ravine\, and finish at Be’er Sheva Park: the mouth of the creek and the water’s convergence with Lake Washington. \nThis journey will be a little over 2 miles downhill\, with a few short sections of moderate climb. This walk is accessible to folks with moderate ability to move. 50% of the path is unpaved\, with some uneven ground. Sturdy ankles are a must! Youth and children are enthusiastically invited. \nSpots are limited to ensure rich experience for everyone 👂

Making migrants the agents of a world history that has too often relegated them to the sidelines\, Race in Transit explores the social construction of race in the early twentieth century and its impacts on Syrian migrants to the United States. Maryam S. Griffin\, author of Vehicles of Decolonization: Public Transit in the Palestinian West Bank\, joins in conversation. \n  \nThis event is free and open to the public. Politicized 🍒🍓🫐 \nAs always\, this is a container to honor land\, connect\, and expand towards justice and wellness for all. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI offer these walks in the greater context of engaging with the today’s crises: climate\, ecological\, and human people.\nIn our urban lives\, hypnotized by modern culture\, we are disconnected from what truly nurtures us. How can we care and prioritize something\, someone from whom we are disconnected? \nWilderness is not only a place “out there\, far from here”.\nWilderness is everywhere. In us\, around us\, and on a downtown concrete block.\nWhen we got confused about how we are part and not apart\, the destruction began.\nThe wilderness of our towns and cities diminished.\nWe have been blessed with the ability to witness this wilderness and be in choice about how to connect and nurture it.
