Despite intermittent ceasefire periods\, airstrikes\, shelling\, and extensive damage to infrastructure persist\, leaving families without reliable medical care\, safe housing\, or sufficient food and clean water. With essential services stretched far beyond capacity\, humanitarian aid remains a lifeline. \nAt the same time\, communities in Lebanon are enduring heightened instability following recent attacks in Beirut and in the south of the country. These escalations have compounded an already severe economic and social crisis\, leaving many families without access to critical resources\, reliable healthcare\, or safe living conditions. The growing humanitarian needs across Lebanon make support and relief efforts more urgent than ever. SCM and our clinic in Sidon represent one of the few NGOs still operating and providing aid in the area. \nJoin us for an afternoon of community\, culture\, and compassion with live music\, dancing\, performances\, a silent auction\, and delicious Middle Eastern appetizers. \nAll proceeds go to support relief efforts for the people of Gaza and Lebanon.

DESCRIPTION:Photo-journalist and documentarian Jocelyne Saab grew up in Beirut and spent fifteen years covering the Lebanese war. The three films that would become known as THE BEIRUT TRILOGY are among the nearly 30 films she made during that time; they weave together documentary images and poetic essay to process how the war has changed the city she knew and her connections to it. Heartbreaking and quietly hopeful\, Saab trains her camera on the people of Beirut as they persist with daily life amid the rubble. \nBEIRUT\, NEVER AGAIN (1976\, 35 mins)\nLebanese writer and painter Etel Adnan provides poetic voiceover as the filmmaker follows the daily destruction of the city. Every morning between 6 and 10am\, she roams around Beirut while the militias from both sides rest from their night of fighting. \nLETTER FROM BEIRUT (1978\, 48 mins)\nThree years after the beginning of the Civil War the filmmaker returns to her city which has irrevocably changed. An epistolary film in which Saab wanders the streets\, rides the bus\, chats with refugees and reflects on the war’s toll. \nBEIRUT MY CITY (1982\, 35 mins)\nIn July 1982 the Israeli army laid siege to Beirut. Four years earlier Jocelyne Saab saw her 150-year-old childhood home go up in flames. She asked herself: when did all this begin? Every place becomes a historical site and every name a memory. Considered by Saab herself to be her most important film.

Activists from the state of Washington will share insights from their recent successful effort to push the state Treasurer to divest from Caterpillar\, due to the company’s longstanding involvement in Israel’s grave human rights violations against Palestinians. \nWe will also hear from organizers in California who are building a broad\, union-centered coalition to target the state’s pension funds and advance divestment efforts. They are motivated by the understanding that ending complicity is a legal and moral obligation. \nAnd we’ll hear from activists in Minnesota\, who successfully pressured the state to sell off most of its Israel Bonds. \nThis session will be valuable for activists who are already engaged in BDS campaigns\, as well as for those just getting started. In collaboration with Green Seattle Partnership 💚🌲\n \nTrillium offers this justice-oriented container as an opportunity to build connections\, learn\, practice\, heal\, create\, and weave resilient communities anchored in land and water. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHIS PROJECT IS FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN: \n\n\nLearning the skills of forest and watershed stewardship and restoration. \n\n\nLearning how to nurture a reciprocal relationship with land. \n\n\nWeaving a resilient community. \n\n\nCultivating a sense of place. \n\n\nLearning about the ecology of this region and how to connect with and identify flora and fauna. \n\n\nTaking meaningful action towards climate\, land\, and social justice. \n\n\nExploring a career in the field of land stewardship. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHE CREEK \nThese waters run through unceded Duwamish Territory and have been tended by Coast Salish peoples for millennia. We advocate for their justice\, honor their stewardship\, and walk in their footsteps. \nToday\, the creek is tended by many communities of caregivers. \nWe collaborate with them in shared care for the land and in a spirit of respect and humility. \nThe first water drops of Mapes Creek percolate through a remnant second-growth forest in South Seattle\, where we will be visiting and tending. \nIt meanders in the recovering forest and through Kubota Garden\, where it fills a necklace of ponds. \nIt then plunges into a dark pipe as it runs through the Rainier Beach neighborhood. \nIt sees daylight again through Be’er Sheva park as a recovering salmon habitat\, and pours into x̌ačuʔ (Hatchu – Lake Washington). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPREPARE YOURSELF! \n\n\nWe will be moving through some brush\, uneven surfaces\, and slopes. Dress for the occasion! \n\n\nWe will have access to a restroom and drinking water\, but please bring your own water to start. \n\n\nWe invite you to bring any offerings to the land for ceremony time 🪶💌🌿🖼️✨
