Through this journey\, we aim to map the geography of Gaza onto Seattle\, making the distant reality of those living in Gaza more tangible and immediate to our local community.\nAs a spiritual journey and an act of protest\, participants are encouraged to reflect on the significance in their own way. There will be no collective religious exercises. We will be united by our journey and common desire for peace\, rather than specific religious practices. This allowed indigenous Somali cuisine to expand and incorporate the influence of Indian\, East African\, Italian\, and Middle Eastern flavors\, leading to a delicious and unique culinary tradition. Join local chef Ifrah Ahmed in class\, where she will teach you about the cuisine of Somalia and how to make some of her favorite classic dishes. On the menu: suqaar digaag (spiced chicken and pepper saute); bariis (Somali rice); sambuus (fried triangular dumplings filled with beef and vegetables); and basbaas (Somali-style hot sauce). \nPlease note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions\, but many cannot.
