SUMMARY:Educator Workshop with Arab American National Museum
DESCRIPTION:FREE with RSVP \nRegister for in-person OR virtual attendance \nPlease join AANM\, the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS) and the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University for a full-day\, hybrid professional development workshop.  The workshop invites educators to hear from fellow Arab American educators and authors on how to incorporate Arab American voices & perspectives in the classroom curriculum. The workshop will be held at AANM; virtual attendees are also welcome to register for a Zoom link. \nFeatured speakers include Reem Kassis\, award-wining author of We Are Palestinian: A Celebration of Culture and Tradition and The Palestinian Table. Attendees will receive copies of the books\, along with a lesson plan around the books. Teachers will learn of a variety of free educational resources. \nThis workshop allows educators to gain access to unique educational resources\, network with fellow educators and enhance their knowledge about the Arab American community. Traditional Arabic breakfast and lunch will be provided to all in-person attendees. SCECH credits will be available for interested educators. \nThis workshop is made possible by a Title VI grant from the United States Department of Education\, which is funding National Resource Center on the Middle East and North Africa at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies and with additional funding from the Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown. \nFor questions\, e-mail Dave Serio\, Curator of Education\, at dserio@accesscommunity.org

DESCRIPTION:@seattleresistancetatreez and @baladna.pnw are offering a COMBINED Tatreez 101 and Intro to Waste Canvas workshop on 11/29 in Seattle\, and you are invited. \n\n\n(You can attend one or both sections of the workshop – for example\, if you are already familiar with Tatreez basics and only want to learn about how to use waste canvas\, you can show up at 1:15 for the waste canvas portion.) \nWe intentionally chose to have this workshop on the Friday after Thanksgiving as a statement and a step towards breaking the cycle of our addiction to consumerism\, and re-directing our attention to the things that create true fulfillment in life: community\, mutual aid\, connection to ancestors\, heritage and land\, and taking care of one another. \n12 – 1:15: Tatreez history/background and Tatreez 101\n1:30 – 4 pm: Intro to Waste Canvas \nAll are required to register at https://tinyurl.com/TatreezWasteCanvas (link in bio). \nMore details are in the registration form\, and location will be provided upon registration and donation (form includes donation instructions). \nAll funds will be sent to @saha_satx and @shababgaza who are tirelessly providing meals for people in Gaza. \nEmail seattleresistancetatreez@gmail.com with any questions.
