DESCRIPTION:WELCOME TO MAPES CREEK \nA land and culture tending practice. An ongoing series to learn the process and be in relationship. Guided by indigenous and Social Forestry principals. In collaboration with Green Seattle Partnership 💚🌲\n \nTrillium offers this justice-oriented container as an opportunity to build connections\, learn\, practice\, heal\, create\, and weave resilient communities anchored in land and water. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHIS PROJECT IS FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN: \n\n\nLearning the skills of forest and watershed stewardship and restoration. \n\n\nLearning how to nurture a reciprocal relationship with land. \n\n\nWeaving a resilient community. \n\n\nCultivating a sense of place. \n\n\nLearning about the ecology of this region and how to connect with and identify flora and fauna. \n\n\nTaking meaningful action towards climate\, land\, and social justice. \n\n\nExploring a career in the field of land stewardship. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHE CREEK \nThese waters run through unceded Duwamish Territory and have been tended by Coast Salish peoples for millennia. We advocate for their justice\, honor their stewardship\, and walk in their footsteps. \nToday\, the creek is tended by many communities of caregivers. \nWe collaborate with them in shared care for the land and in a spirit of respect and humility. \nThe first water drops of Mapes Creek percolate through a remnant second-growth forest in South Seattle\, where we will be visiting and tending. \nIt meanders in the recovering forest and through Kubota Garden\, where it fills a necklace of ponds. \nIt then plunges into a dark pipe as it runs through the Rainier Beach neighborhood. \nIt sees daylight again through Be’er Sheva park as a recovering salmon habitat\, and pours into x̌ačuʔ (Hatchu – Lake Washington). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPREPARE YOURSELF! \n\n\nWe will be moving through some brush\, uneven surfaces\, and slopes. Dress for the occasion! \n\n\nWe will have access to a restroom and drinking water\, but please bring your own water to start. \n\n\nWe invite you to bring any offerings to the land for ceremony time 🪶💌🌿🖼️✨

DESCRIPTION:Spring Wilderness Walks\n\n\n5/16 Spring Wilderness Walk – All Welcome\nA safe space for QTBIPOC to walk with us and co-regulate\, especially if this is your first Trillium event. \n​​For culture healing through relational learning and orienting ourselves as part of the natural world 🌍. A politicized container to weave power and address systemic injustice. \n\nAs always\, this is a container to honor land\, heal culture\, connect\, and expand towards justice and wellness for all. \n\nWHAT TO EXPECT\nThe guidance will be tuned around the unfurling of spring. We’ll see who we run into and learn about their way of living and role in the ecological community. \nWe’ll also learn\, relating\, recognition\, and reciprocal foraging. If we’re lucky\, we’ll take some home to enjoy!
