DESCRIPTION:Multi-award-winning musicians Layale Chaker\, Kinan Azmeh\, and Dinuk Wijeratne come together to create highly distinctive music that draw from a confluence of cultural influences. Chaker\, a Lebanese violinist and composer\, Azmeh\, a Syrian clarinetist and composer\, and Wijeratne\, a Sri Lankan composer\, conductor\, and pianist\, are each known for their inventive and genre-defying work.  For this transporting concert\, Middle Eastern and South Asian music mix for a soulful program inspired by the idea of what ‘home’ means to us all. \nDrummer Nicholas Halley and bassist Tom Easley join to create a unique five-piece band. \nThis concert is preceded by a talk with Eshantha Joseph Peiris at 7:15PM in the RBC Cinema. This year’s in-person event at Seattle Center is hosted by Thione Diop\, featuring performances by Zambuko Marimba Ensemble\, Sahara Sounds\, Hijos de Agüeybaná\, Eritrean Youth Dance Group of Seattle\, along with a fashion show and Afrobeats dance break with DJ Lace Cadence. \nSeattle Center Festál is a year-round series of 24 free cultural festivals\, produced in partnership with community organizations.
