SUMMARY:USCPR Action Phone Zap: DISRUPTING CAMPAIGN EVENTS
DESCRIPTION:Join USCPR Action on Wednesday\, March 20 to mobilize our masses calling Congress and to learn how to disrupt campaign events. On the Zoom call\, you’ll hear a case study on how to disrupt a politician’s event to force the demand to stop arming Israel onto their agenda. We’ll also be mobilizing to defend Rafah and to stop “THE DEADLY DEAL\,” a $95 bilion spending package that just passed the Senate and now heads to the House. The Deadly Deal includes $14 billion in weapons to Israel for arming genocide\, and the elimination of all humanitarian funding to the UNRWA aid agency for Palestinian refugees\, permanently. At 2 PM ET / 11 AM PT\, we’ll flood Congress’s phone lines together to let them know we’re watching as the U.S. government continues to back Israel’s horrific massacres and forced starvation of Palestinians in Gaza. Demand that your elected officials call for a PERMANENT CEASEFIRE NOW and stop arming Israel! Join us this Wednesday\, March 20 at 2 PM ET.

SUMMARY:Eyewitness Palestine: Live from Lyd Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Join Eyewitness Palestine on Wednesday\, March 27th at 12PM ET for our Live from Lyd webinar\, featuring a special virtual delegation led by Tamer Nafar\, who will take us around Lyd on a custom tour of the city. Lyd\, like many Palestinian cities\, is an ancient city that’s been home to multiple civilizations over its 5\,000-year history. It was the site of one of the most grueling massacres of the Nakba and remains haunted by the injustices brought on to it. Today\, the community of Lyd–one of the few cities with an integrated Palestinian and Israeli Jewish population–is marred by addiction and gun violence. We’ll hear from Lyd residents about the resilience and struggles they face in the community.

SUMMARY:Jerusalem Story: Virtual Event
DESCRIPTION:Jerusalem Story tells the story of a unique city through a new lens—that of the city’s large and diverse indigenous Palestinian community. \nThis community has deep historic roots in Jerusalem and holds the strongest attachment to and love for their city. Yet\, they have been subjected to unrelenting efforts to erase their presence in\, and potential claim to\, the city—past\, present\, and future—in the service of cementing Israel’s imperative of claiming sole sovereignty in perpetuity over a “united Jewish Jerusalem.” Against this ongoing effort to erase the Palestinian cultural and community history as well as severing connection to place\, Jerusalem Story is reasserting the Palestinian presence. \nSPEAKERS: \nKate Rouhana \nFounding Director\, Jerusalem Story \nKate Rouhana is a writer\, editor\, and researcher. She has lived and worked as a journalist and researcher in Jerusalem and elsewhere in Palestine several times throughout her life. She holds an MA in Middle Eastern Studies and a BA in International Relations\, both from Harvard University. \nAmina Abdulhaq \nResearcher/Writer\, Jerusalem Story \nAmina Abdulhaq is a human rights lawyer and a researcher. Her family has deep historic roots in Jerusalem. Her work focuses on Jerusalem\, women\, and gender. Amina is fully devoted to raising all oppressed people’s voices\, inclusively embracing diversities and uniqueness. \nArda Aghazarian \nWriter\, Jerusalem Story \nArda Aghazarian is a communications consultant with ample experience in creative and professional writing and has also worked in audiovisual production—including film and radio. Arda has delivered training\, public speaking\, and mentoring at key global events\, mostly on issues related to women and conflict\, identity\, language\, and narrative. \nNadim Bawalsa \nResearcher/Writer\, Jerusalem Story \nNadim Bawalsa is a historian of modern Palestine and author of Transnational Palestine: Migration and the Right of Return before 1948 (Stanford University Press\, 2022).. Bawalsa’s work has also appeared in the Jerusalem Quarterly\, NACLA Report on the Americas\, Al-Shabaka: The Palestinian Policy Network\, the Journal of Palestine Studies\, and in two edited volumes. SUMMARY:Free Film Screening: Israelism
DESCRIPTION:Two young American Jews travel to Israel seeking a deeper understanding of the country they were raised to love. What they encounter profoundly impacts them\, leading them to join a growing movement to redefine their community’s relationship with Israel in this challenging and emotional journey. Join us for the free screening of this film. \nAbout the film\nTwo young American Jews – Simone Zimmerman and Eitan – are raised to defend the state of Israel at all costs. Eitan joins the Israeli military. Simone supports Israel on ‘the other battlefield:’ America’s college campuses. When they witness Israel‘s mistreatment of the Palestinian people with their own eyes\, they are horrified and heartbroken.\nThey join the movement of young American Jews battling the old guard over Israel’s centrality in American Judaism\, and demanding freedom for the Palestinian people. Their stories reveal a generational divide in the American Jewish community as more young Jews question the narratives their synagogues and Hebrew school teachers fed them as children. \nThe film also features voices like Jacqui\, a Jewish educator who says “Judaism is Israel and Israel is Judaism”\, and former Anti-Defamation League President Abe Foxman\, who claims voices like Simone and Eitan’s represent a small minority. Thought leaders like Peter Beinart\, Jeremy Ben-Ami\, Noura Erakat\, Cornel West\, and Noam Chomsky also weigh in. \nDirected by two first-time Jewish filmmakers who share a similar story to the film’s protagonists\, Israelism is produced by Peabody-winner and 4-time Emmy-nominee Daniel J. Chalfen (Loudmouth\, Boycott)\, executive produced by two-time Emmy-winner Brian A. Kates (Marvelous Ms. Maisel\, Succession) and edited by Emmy-winner Tony Hale (The Story of Plastic)\, Israelism uniquely explores how Jewish attitudes towards Israel are changing dramatically\, with massive consequences for the region and for Judaism itself.

SUMMARY:Millennials are Killing Capitalism Live on YouTube
DESCRIPTION:In this episode organizers from Samidoun will join us. They will share updates from Palestinian prisoner conditions and the conditions of repression in Israeli military prisons. We will also talk to Samidoun about the repression they have faced as an organization\, and as individuals associated with the organization\, since October 7th. We will of course discuss the recent events at Sde Teiman which have caused a proliferation of mobilizations seeking to defend the ability of Israeli’s to use rape as a method of torture against Palestinian detainees. “Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network joins the calls from Palestine to make 3 August — the 300th day of the ongoing genocide in Palestine — an international day of action for Gaza and the prisoners. We urge all Palestinian and Arab communities and organizations in exile and diaspora\, and all internationalist organizations and activists for Palestine\, to take action on Saturday\, August 3 for the liberation of over 9\,700 Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons\, an end to the ongoing Zionist genocide in Gaza\, in support of the heroic Palestinian and regional resistance\, and for the liberation of Palestine from the river to the sea!” – https://samidoun.net/2024/07/take-act… To support Samidoun: https://samidoun.net/donate-page/

SUMMARY:Meeting Ibn Arabi: His Life and Teachings
DESCRIPTION:MIAS Education Team is offering this course as a guided group exploration into Ibn Arabi´ s life and teachings\, based on the book by Claude Addas\, The Voyage of No Return. The course is open to all and is designed especially for those less familiar with Ibn Arabi. You might be considering joining one of our Voyage courses and would like to ‘meet’ Ibn Arabi as a preparation. We also welcome those already acquainted with Ibn Arabi’s work and wish to know more about his life and the context within which he lived\, traveled\, and wrote. \nSaturday 25th January 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm GMT with a half-hour break \nSunday 26th January 5:00 pm- 8:30 GMT with a half-hour break \nIntroductory Video \nhttps://youtu.be/c8FnWl0O5Eg \nImage ‘”Ibn Arabi on his mule addressing students in the 21st century” by Yasmin Hayat \n\n\n\n\nContent and Method\nThe book consists of twelve fairly short chapters. Participants will be required to read the material before the session and to note any questions they have. During the sessions\, we will discuss any questions and clarify concepts and terminology. Additional excerpts from other works may enrich our understanding during the sessions. We invite you to share any inspiration or thoughts about the text. This course is not composed of lectures and it is not an academic study. Rather\, it is an interactive group discussion and a personal engagement with Ibn Arabi. We hope that it thereby serves as a small taster for the Voyage courses. \nThe course will consist of two sessions Saturday and Sunday. Each session will last 1.5 hours\, with a half-hour break\, giving a total of six hours. \nThe book can be bought here: https://its.org.uk/catalogue/ibn-arabi-the-voyage-of-no-return-paperback/ \nor from Amazon: \nhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Ibn-Arabi-Voyage-No-Return/dp/1911141406/ref=sr_1_1?crid=21GG8H6JBU4Z2&keywords=Voyage+of+no+return&qid=1691926854&sprefix=voyage+of+no+return%2Caps%2C82&sr=8-1
