DESCRIPTION:During this (Frist) Friday MI Art Walk\, stop by the SZ Gallery with a spirit of empathy & sense of curiosity\, as you explore and learn from Palestinian and Arab Artists. \nIn gratitude for and collaboration with the Zawyeh Gallery\, SZ Gallery commits to giving voice to Palestinians and their experiences\, focusing on their humanity\, through creative expressions of art & culture. \nAfter losing his home and studio in Gaza City in October\, Maisara Baroud began drawing his diaries under the devastating Israeli genocidal war. He hasn’t ceased drawing since losing his “personal little world” to destruction\, along with all his paintings\, tools\, books\, and precious memories. Through his paintings\, he documents displacement\, brutal bombardment\, the fear of loss\, and the anxiety of protecting loved ones. DESCRIPTION:The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra is wrapping up another unforgettable season of live music with an exhilarating program\, featuring contemporary composer Kinan Azmeh and Sergei Rachmaninoff.First\, Genre-bending composer and clarinetist Kinan Azmeh brings his Suite for Improvisor and Orchestra to the stage. Azmeh composed the Suite for Improvisor and Orchestra as a fusion of music cultures with each movement calling back to a memory from his life in Syria and living as an immigrant in New York. Azmeh will be in attendance and performing the improvised clarinet part during this performance.In the second half\, tap your toes to Sergei Rachmaninoff’s grandiose and energetic Symphonic Dances .This afternoon is sure to inspire and energize you for the fabulous summer ahead!A Pre-Concert Lecture about the program will take place at 2:15PM in the Walton Theatre. Doors open at 2PM and seating is limited\, so please plan accordingly.
