SUMMARY:Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage - Seattle
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we walk the entire length of Gaza (25 miles\, 41k) through Seattle as a pilgrimage and a communal act of solidarity with the people of Gaza.\nWe will be joining over 109 cities around the world led by Palestinian Christians during the season of Lent. In Seattle\, our pilgrimage is designed to be inclusive\, welcoming anyone interested in joining\, regardless of religious affiliation.\nWe will meet in Heritage Park (Corner of Market St. and Waverly Way) in Kirkland at 6:00am (free parking at 123 5th Ave)\, and journey together\, rain or shine\, around the north side of Lake Washington departing at 6:15am. Through this journey\, we aim to map the geography of Gaza onto Seattle\, making the distant reality of those living in Gaza more tangible and immediate to our local community.\nAs a spiritual journey and an act of protest\, participants are encouraged to reflect on the significance in their own way. There will be no collective religious exercises. We will be united by our journey and common desire for peace\, rather than specific religious practices. Together\, let’s take steps towards a future where peace and justice prevail for all.\nFULL DISCLOSURE: We have no resources to provide support for anyone who chooses to join us. We will simply provide our itinerary with an open invitation to anyone who wants to join for all or part of the walk. You are responsible for yourself and your needs.\nGaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage Objectives:\n1. Enduring and Sustained Ceasefire.\n2. Exact route will be shared closer to the event. It will likely take between 10-12 hours depending on your walking speed and how many breaks you take. There will be no support vehicles. Each person should have their own plan in case they need to stop early.\nDo I have to walk the full distance?\nNo\, you are welcome to walk with us for as long or short as you’d like.\nWhat to bring for the day?\n-Water (we will map out locations to refill bottles)\n-Good shoes\n-Appropriate clothes for the weather\n-Food/Snacks (we will map out locations for purchasing food or restaurant options)\n-Phone (we will have a group communication thread)\n-Anything else you will need for an all day walk\nCan I bring signs and flags?\nYes. SUMMARY:Arabian Bakeshop: PCC Cooking Class
DESCRIPTION:MENU\n\nMakrouta – Swirled Date Cookies\nBesbousa – Sweet Soaked Semolina Cake\nHalawa Truffles – Chocolate Dipped Tahini Truffles\n\nDESCRIPTION\nCelebrate the culture of the Middle East during this festive time of year learning to make Middle Eastern desserts. Bake buttery\, date cookies and learn how to swirl dough and make the filling. Make simple syrup and discover the role it plays in Besbousa – a sweet-soaked semolina cake. And Chef Hend will demonstrate how to craft tahini into halva\, a staple confection\, that we’ll transform into a truffle dipped in chocolate. \nVegetarian; contains dairy and nuts\, \nAbout the instructor: After cooking in Michelin Star restaurants and high volume catering events\, I made a “temporary” switch to teaching cooking classes. However\, the satisfaction and unique experience I received from teaching convinced me that this was my new culinary path. I am a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu\, where I mainly focused on French and Western technique\, but I have deep roots in Middle-Eastern cuisine and an enthusiastic\, developed passion for Japanese cuisine. In my travels I seek out to learn something new\, and for me\, the more specific and obscure\, the better. My interests and abilities continue to range out further\, as long as I can do it\, I will teach it. \nCLASS NOTES\n  \n\nThis is a hands-on format class for adults.\nClass information will be emailed 48 hours before class. Our emails can get caught in spam filters or blocked entirely\, please contact us if you don’t receive the class information.\nCancellation Policy: Classes are nonrefundable. If you cannot attend\, you can request a class credit or transfer to a different class up to 7 days prior to class or have someone attend in your place.
