SUMMARY:"Living" Room by Abdelfattah Abusrour [virtual]
DESCRIPTION:“Living” Room by Abdelfattah Abusrour\nIf these walls could talk…what would they say about the occupation of Palestine? \nIf these walls could talk…This is the experience of a “living” room in the West Bank under occupation. Find a comfortable chair in your own living room\, and press play. \nAbdelfattah Abusrour is founder and director of Alrowwad Cultural and Arts Society\, established in 1998 in Aida refugee camp-Bethlehem. His concept and philosophy “Beautiful Resistance”\, using performing and visual arts\, culture and education\, is a creative and peaceful expression in situations of oppression and trauma to provide possibilities to save lives and inspire hope and build peace within individuals to be peace builders in their communities and beyond. He started working with children\, youth and later adults\, focused also on mothers and women. Mobile Beautiful Resistance program\, using theatre\, dance\, photography\, games library (play bus) touring all over the West Bank-Palestine to train trainers and connect with other Palestinian communities and marginalized areas. Abusrour is an author\, actor\, and theatre director\, with a PhD in Biological and Medical Engineering from France in 1993. In 2005\, he abandoned his career in Biology because he believed in the power of arts and culture as pure humanity where stereotypes vanish and people are on equal grounds. These are the bridges that people can build together as equals to shape a better future for all the generations to come. Abusrour co-wrote the plays Salut c’est nous in 1990\, and Nourrir de faim; in 1993 while studying in France (Co-founder of Paris Nord Théâtre). He has written\, adapted or performed in many plays produced in Palestine\, including Waiting for the Rain\, Staying Alive\, When Old Men Cry\, “6500\,” and others. \nAbusrour says: “We don’t have the luxury of despair\, but a steadfast hope that we can make a change for our children and the generations to come that we can be proud of” and “Miracles don’t happen alone\, we provoke them to happen.” \nThe sound designer for this play is Wisam Aljafari\, and the recording was made in the Alrowwad studios in Aida Camp\, West Bank. \nNamed one of the Top 5 Immersive Companies in NYC by Jonathan Mandell of tdf.org\, This Is Not a Theatre Company creates site-based\, immersive\, multi-sensory\, participatory dance-theatre that can be smelled\, touched\, and tasted as well as seen and heard. This theatre is not something to passively consume\, but to co-create. With each production\, This Is Not a Theatre Company asks the audience to perceive the world in new ways\, to empathize in new ways\, and to practice creativity. SUMMARY:Rajaa Gharbi\, Selected Works: Exhibition by Rajaa Gharbi
DESCRIPTION:VISUAL ART Every Thursday–Saturday\, from November 2–December 2 12–5 pm \nFeaturing original acrylic paintings and prints from several previous solo exhibitions\, artist Rajaa Gharbi‘s exhibition\, Rajaa Gharbi\, Selected Works is largely inspired by a sense of realism and the need for collective\, life-nurturing visions and practices. \nGharbi’s works are never about just one or two themes. Among her earliest and indelible art influences and “training” grounds were her mother’s clothing designs\, her father’s storytelling feats\, her native city’s omnipresent visual worlds of hand-weaving arts\, first centuries BCE monumental representational mosaic “paintings”\, and the vestiges of a bygone Roman Empire. Visual storytelling and ancient scripts have held her focus since childhood. There\, the first waves of infinite geometric designs and limitless color palettes permeated her psyche. Hopping around or staring at the fallen or still standing marble statues of all sizes\, texts hand-engraved on steles\, and very young olive trees cracking life open right through ancient fallen columns in her native Carthage\, Tunisia and across North Africa are still among her sources of inspiration. She is also inhabited and taught by the geographic and human landscapes of the American Northwest.

SUMMARY:Streaming Movies from Aflamuna: Films From Palestine
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOUR PICKS FOR NOVEMBER \nAFLAMUNA.online is dedicating the month of November to a compelling selection of films\, each a profound testament to the story of Palestine. \nIn this dedicated program\, we shed a brilliant light on the unwavering struggle and indomitable spirit of the Palestinian people\, unearthing narratives that resound with their strength and perseverance. \nA heartfelt tribute to Palestine\, amplifying Palestinian voices\, adhering to the rights of Palestinians\, honoring Palestinian narratives\, and standing against any attempts to falsify its history and any violation of the rights of its people. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nكأنّنا عشرون مستحيل \n آن ماري جاسر 17 د. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLike Twenty Impossibles \n Annemarie Jacir  17 MINS \n  \nOccupied Palestine: When a Palestinian film crew averts a closed checkpoint by taking a remote side road\, the political landscape unravels\, and the passengers are slowly taken apart by the mundane brutality of military occupation. A visual poem and a narrative\, “Like Twenty Impossibles” wryly question artistic responsibility and filmmaking’s politics while speaking to a people’s fragmentation. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nplay / للمشاهدة\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n23 تشرين الثاني – 6 كانون الأول \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovember 23 – December 6 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nاليد الخضراء \n إيمانويل جيروزا 65 د. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne More Jump \n Emanuele Gerosa  65 MINS \n  \nJehad and Abdallah\, founders of the Gaza Parkour Team\, were brought up together in the Gaza Strip\, but their choices divided them for years. Today\, more than ever\, they need to find out if there is a way to lead to freedom for someone who\, like them\, was born in prison. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nplay / للمشاهدة\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n30 تشرين الثاني – 13 كانون الأول \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovember 30 – December 13 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nخيوط السرد \n كارول منصور 78 د. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStitching Palestine \n Carol Mansour 78 MINS \n  \nTwelve Palestinian women sit before us and talk of their life before the Diaspora\, of their memories\, of their lives\, and of their identity. Their narratives are connected by the enduring thread of the ancient art of embroidery. Twelve resilient\, determined\, and articulate women from disparate walks of life: lawyers\, artists\, housewives\, activists\, architects\, and politicians stitch together the story of their homeland\, of their dispossession\, and of their unwavering determination that justice will prevail. Through their stories\, the individual weaves into the collective yet remains distinctly personal. Twelve women\, twelve life spans\, and stories from Palestine\, a land whose position was fixed on the map of the world but is now embroidered on its face. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nplay / للمشاهدة
