SUMMARY:One World Summer Language Camp: Learn Arabic\, Chinese or Korean  - Session II (2020)
DESCRIPTION:This language and culture camp focuses on fostering language acquisition\, intercultural understanding\, and a desire for international travel. During the camp\, students will learn basic communicative writing\, reading\, listening\, and speaking skills in classes taught using immersion methodology.  The camp will introduce students to practices and perspectives of the Arabic-\, Korean- and Chinese-speaking world\, as well as the leadership skills that will enable them to become local youth leaders with a global perspective. Students will learn through classroom activities\, guest speakers\, music\, and field trips. DESCRIPTION:7:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday\, Aug. 11\, 2020\nCreating a Culture of Change: A Series of Conversations on Race and Community Building\nPresented in partnership with Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture and the National Network for Arab American Communities \nConversation 4: Documenting Community through Film & Journalism\nFree\nRSVP for Zoom link \nThis conversation on Documenting Community through Film & Journalism welcomes the following panelists: \nAssia Boundaoui – filmmaker\, journalist \nLouis Massiah – filmmaker\, director of Scribe Video Center \nYawu Miller – journalist\, senior editor at Bay State Banner \nIn light of recent protests and actions across America in support of the Black Lives Matter movement\, there is a need among Arab American communities to have intentional conversations around issues of race\, racism and social justice. Through a cultural lens\, the Arab American National Museum\, Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture and the Network of Arab American Communities are organizing a series of virtual presentations during the summer that bring together Arab American artists in conversation with Arab and African American educators\, community leaders\, journalists and scholars.
