DESCRIPTION:This language and culture camp focuses on fostering language acquisition\, intercultural understanding\, and a desire for international travel. During the camp\, students will learn basic communicative writing\, reading\, listening\, and speaking skills in classes taught using immersion methodology.  The camp will introduce students to practices and perspectives of the Arabic-\, Korean- and Chinese-speaking world\, as well as the leadership skills that will enable them to become local youth leaders with a global perspective. Students will learn through classroom activities\, guest speakers\, music\, and field trips. Your kids will be learning about music instruments on MUSIC MONDAY\, create artwork and crafts from the Arab world on TIME FOR ART TUESDAY\, learn about different countries from the Arab world on WONDERFUL WORLD WEDNESDAY\, listen to stories and learn about poetry on THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY and learn to cook arabic dishes with chefs on FOODIE FRIDAY.\n\nWe will be bringing you this content over different platforms\, including live zoom sessions\, facebook and instagram stories and on our SAWA youtube channel. All content will be archived so that you can access it. I will be sending an email the Friday prior to the start of the camp to give you a sample of the following week. We will not be able to update you over email daily\, so please follow us on Facebook SAWA and instagram @sawasocal which will have the most updated content.\n\nPlease reach out to any of us if you have any concerns or want any clarification. Through a cultural lens\, the Arab American National Museum\, Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture and the Network of Arab American Communities are organizing a series of virtual presentations during the summer that bring together Arab American artists in conversation with Arab and African American educators\, community leaders\, journalists and scholars.
