A popular street food across Arab countries, mana’eesh (or manakish) are flatbreads topped with spices, cheese, seasoned meats, or veggies, and enjoyed hot out of the oven. A man’oushe — the singular form — can be sliced like a pizza or folded, the traditional way, into a wrap, and can be served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. In this class NADIA TOMMALIEH will teach you to roll and bake this childhood favorite in several preparations: one with za’atar and labaneh; another, lahmeh bi ajeen, featuring seasoned beef and pomegranate molasses; man’oushet jebneh hara, flavored with spicy akawai cheese; man’oushet el armaleh, topped with spiced onions, tomato, and sesame; and a sweet tahini man’oushe with date molasses and pistachio.
