Dr. Nof Atamna-Ismaeel—the first Muslim Arab Israeli to win the MasterChef Israel television competition—is on a quest to make social change through food. Her A-sham Arabic Food Festival in Haifa pairs Arab and Jewish chefs to collaborate on dishes like kishek (a Syrian yogurt soup) and qatayef (a dessert typically served during Ramadan). Exotic cuisines are served up with a side of politics, as we savor the taste of hope, collaboration, and mouthwatering fare.
