Sahara Sounds at Spirit of Africa

Spirit of Africa will take place in-person on Saturday, May 13, 2:00pm-8:30pm at the Armory Food & Event Hall. A virtual festival will be presented online on Friday, May 12, 6:00pm via Facebook and YouTube. The festival is part of the Seattle Center Festál series. It is free and open to the public.

The festival presents traditional and contemporary music, a fashion show, art, food, marketplace, dance workshops, and more! This year’s in-person event at Seattle Center is hosted by Thione Diop, featuring performances by Zambuko Marimba Ensemble, Sahara Sounds, Hijos de Agüeybaná, Eritrean Youth Dance Group of Seattle, along with a fashion show and Afrobeats dance break with DJ Lace Cadence.

Seattle Center Festál is a year-round series of 24 free cultural festivals, produced in partnership with community organizations.
