ALMONDS BLOSSOM IN DEIR YASSIN is a full-length play about four people with inextricable ties to the historical Palestinian village of Deir Yassin—the site of a massacre of Palestinian men, women, and children on April 9, 1948, by Zionist paramilitary troops. By 1951, Israel had established the Kfar Shaul Mental Health Center on the grounds of Deir Yassin.

 

This play delves into the theme of Palestinian collective memory at the location of the massacred Palestinian village Deir Yassin, now occupied by an Israeli mental institution.

Through its surreal narrative, its characters challenge the silence surrounding historical truths and the preservation of collective memory.
