Join us for an English-Arabic Storytime in celebration of Arab American Heritage Month as well as Earth Day, from the comfort of your home! Children ages 2-6 and their parents are invited to tune in as resident storyteller Sari Mira reads the books Ten Ways to Hear Snow and The World Is Not A Rectangle in both English and Arabic.
Ten Ways to Hear Snow written by Cathy Camper and illustrated by Kenard Pak, follows Lina who wakes up on winter morning to silence. It’s the sound of snow; as she walks to her grandmother’s house to help make the family recipe for warak enab, she continues to listen, discovering mindfulness, empathy, and what we realize when the world gets quiet.
The World Is Not a Rectangle: A Portrait of Architect Zaha Hadid written and illustrated by Jeanette Winter, is a nonfiction picture book about the famed Iraqi architect’s life and her triumph over adversity.
