CAIR Banquet Featuring Speaker Ilhan Omar

This year, we honor the champions of change — those building our collective power in our community. Join us,Rep. Ilhan Omar, and many more guest speakers at our annual CAIR-WA banquet on Saturday, October 10th at 6:00 pm at the Meydenbauer Center.
Ilhan Omar is a powerhouse in Congress. Ilhan was born in Somalia and came to the U.S. as a young refugee. She has served in U.S. Congress since 2019. Ilhan is one of the first two Muslim women in the U.S. Congress, and the first Somali American to serve in Congress.
On a daily basis, Rep. Omar resists destructive policies that chip away at our rights and freedoms and fights to build a more inclusive and compassionate society, one where our economy can flourish and all Americans can participate in the democratic process.
Ilhan Omar represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, which includes Minneapolis and surrounding areas. An experienced Twin Cities policy analyst, organizer, public speaker, and advocate, Rep. Omar was sworn into office in January 2019, making her the first Somali-American member of Congress, the first woman of color to represent Minnesota.
