Featuring Arab Characters

Arab children need to see themselves reflected on the pages of at least some of the books they read. Here are some suggestions with either real life Arab role models or fantastical stories with Arab characters and references to things that are familiar to Arab families. I can't stress how so so so important this is to developing a child's identity and sense of self! - These books and magazines have been HUGE hits in my home with two Arab daughters. Each selection is either written by an author with Arab background or feature heavily Arab characters! I'm adding new books as often as I can. I'd love to see comments below with other recommendations for me to check out! (P.S. The links will take you to bookshop.org (a great website for buying books that also supports local bookshops) where you can get a description and purchase the book if desired.) Enjoy!!
